For more than 40 years, Advocates of Lake County (ALC) has been providing services, support, and resources for survivors of violence and individuals who are experiencing housing instability. ALC’s programs include crisis response, violence prevention, homelessness prevention and response, advocacy, legal, and counseling services, among others.The bulk of ALC’s funding comes from government grants that are designated for specific uses, such as services for survivors of domestic violence or sexual assault – but those aren’t the only individuals ALC serves. Unrestricted funding allows ALC to provide services for individuals whose needs may not be covered by their current funding options. It also enables them to adapt to their clients’ needs in real time so no one in Lake County has to feel unsafe or go without their essential needs being met.
